Description: This raster represents standardized land-use/land-cover conditions for Iceland for the reference year 2024, part of a continuous time series (2018–2024). All datasets share identical spatial resolution, coordinate system, classification scheme and pixel alignment to enable high-quality temporal comparison. The raster was generated from authoritative national datasets, including habitat maps, forestry layers, wetland inventories, cropland data, and topographic sources. Processing included projection, rasterization to 5 × 5 m cells, harmonized reclassification, and quality checks. The dataset supports national LULUCF workflows, carbon stock estimation, monitoring of drained wetlands, and forest-overlap analysis. Two versions of each dataset; generalized counting 17 raster grid values and full resolution > 100 classes. Included .lyrx for Esri FGDB showing symbology for each dataset and .qml. for GeoTiff (GQGis). The IGLUD database contains a total of 109 geographical data layers, with 70 derived from Iceland’s comprehensive habitat map and 39 sourced from other partner organizations. Main data sources are from:European habitat classification system (EUNIS) (3 ed) Icelandic Institute of Natural History 2024Land and forest 2024Land and forest 2024 and Agricultural University of IcelandThe Icelandic Agricultural Advisory Center (RML) National Land Survey of Iceland & Agricultural University of Iceland Registers Iceland 2020National Land Survey of Iceland & Land and forest Icelandic Farmland Database (Nytjaland) Agricultural University of Iceland 2010 Supporting Data Layers Data that is used for adjustments and support is not graded in the same system as their purpose is to enhance, adjust, or calibrate the core data. They are primarily used in map algebra, terrain correction, or as reference layers, which help to create a more accurate and functional LULUCF map but are not used directly as LULUCF data layers.ArcticDEM, provides high-resolution elevation data for terrain analysis; serves as a foundational elevation layer for further analyses.Slope (%) from ArcticDEM, used to calculate terrain slope by excluding slope =>10° from drained soils classification in LULUCF adjustments.Building Footprints (OSM), Provides detailed building outlines, refining drained soils, forestry and revegetated area classification within LULUCF analysisLand Transition MatrixComplete land use/land cover transition matrix that summarizes how every pixel in the study area changed between the two time points represented by the two rasters stored in the file geodatabase. Each row of the matrix corresponds to a “from” class in the earlier year, while each column represents a “to” class in the later year. The cell values are expressed as absolute areas (in hectares and km²) that have moved from one category to another during the interval. Because both rasters were originally categorical and have been reclassified to a common coding scheme, the matrix contains only meaningful class pairs. The matrix is stored as a raster dataset within the geodatabase, often with three columns: the original “from” class identifier, the resulting “to” class identifier, and the area value. This format facilitates quick import into statistical software for further analysis, while also being easily readable by ArcGIS Pro’s table viewer or exported to Excel or CSV if needed.
